UL 325 Standards

UL 325 is a safety standard that covers the automatic operation of garage doors. Products are tested at a recognized testing laboratory to determine if they comply with the UL 325 standard. If they are found to be in compliance, they are listed and receive a UL mark.

 

California SB 969 Law

Effective July 1, 2019, California Bill SB-969 requires all new or replaced automatic garage door openers in residential applications in the state to be equipped with a battery backup.
 

Pre-1993 Openers

In 1992, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) implemented new regulations requiring all garage door openers manufactured after that year to have external entrapment protection devices, such as infrared sensors or sensing edges, in addition to the internal contact reverse mechanism.

Proposition 65 Law

Proposition 65 in California requires businesses to provide warning labels for products containing certain chemicals, enabling informed consumer decisions.


 

Unattended Operation

Wall controls for garage door openers must be placed at least 5 feet above the floor to reduce the risk of children becoming trapped under the garage door. This warning label is included inside all of our owner's manuals and should be placed on the wall, as many home inspectors require.
